Develop Stability, Clarity, and Resilience

Stand Tall–Don’t Fall is a unique class incorporating integrative movements drawn from Brain Gym®, Vision Gym®, Touch for Health, and the developmental movements of the Primitive Reflexes to stimulate efficient gross and fine motor neural patterns. The class also works to develop your core muscles and those in your back, legs, and feet using simple, guided exercises to balance the natural energy flows of the body.

Drawing from over 100 sensory motor activities, strength and balance training exercises, and cognitive and spatial awareness tasks, you will improve your flexibility, posture, balance, and energy through a series of simple, adaptable movements that activate the mind and body for whole brain functioning.

Whole Brain Function

Whole brain functioning, at the neurological level, can provide the foundation for optimum mental and physical functioning through re-patterning our neural networks, strengthening specific muscle groups, and opening energy pathways.

The therapeutic movements of this class facilitate mind-body communication in three ways: from Left to Right, from Top to Bottom, and from Front to Back. Improving this coordination develops a strong sense of balance, and the ability and flexibility to immediately regain that balance when needed.

Left to Right coordination affects how our two eyes, ears, hands, feet, and brain hemispheres work together for secure walking.

Top to Bottom coordination allows for greater spatial awareness to help us avoid obstacles in our path.

Front to Back coordination improves posture so we will have better stability as we sit, stand, and walk.

While balance problems are sometimes present in a person from childhood, they can also result from aging, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, stress, or sudden trauma. Re-training your neural signals to move fluidly along the neural pathways helps you to regain optimal functioning, both physically and mentally.

  • Cheryl M.

“I have Multiple Sclerosis with balance problems. I used to run into the wall. Now I don't. I can't tell you why, but Stand Tall has worked for me.”

  • Claire C.

“I’m more aware of my body. I’m more coordinated and flexible and can now walk down the stairs in a straight line. I can also accomplish everyday tasks faster and more efficiently!”

  • Sheldon C.

“One year ago I was devastated by a stroke. I lost all forms of memory and my right leg was dragging. I joined the Stand Tall class and my walking improved immediately. After eight classes I am not 100% where I want to be but I am close. I believe this class is the reason for my improvement.”

  • Brad B.

“When I started this class I couldn’t walk even short distances with or without my cane, hit golf balls on the driving range, bend down to pick things up from the floor, or do any of the class exercises without holding onto the chair or using my cane. After about six months of attending the class regularly, I am now able to walk 1.2 miles (with my cane), hit the balls on the driving range with 7 out of 10 good shots, pick something up from the floor without the support of my cane, and do all the class exercises without holding onto the chair or using my cane. It has really changed my life.”

What to Expect

These classes are fun! You will enjoy simple, easy movements that can be adapted for any ability level. I will guide you through a series of sensory motor activities that stimulate brain function, reconnect and strengthen neural networks, improve energy and posture, and strengthen specific muscle groups to establish strength, flexibility, and good balance.

Every class is a different mix of movement exercises and it never gets boring.

With regular attendance, you will experience emotional and physical relaxation, increased mental alertness, a greater sense of well-being, and confidence in your abilities.
