Aiden’s Story

Academic Challenges

Aiden, age 16, was in an alternative school to help him manage his classroom behavior and address his academic challenges. He struggled with fitting into a mainstream school classroom because he had a very hard time focusing, sitting still, and staying on task.

One of Aiden’s goals was to simply perform tasks more easily. A "task" could be sitting at a desk and paying attention to the instructor, completing an assignment, reading something, or even dealing with frustration.

To address Aiden’s issues, we utilized the specific movements of Brain Gym® to activate areas of his brain for coordinating, organizing, and filtering sensory information.

When there is poor neural functioning in the vestibular system (the balance mechanism) or incomplete transfer of information between brain hemispheres, the result can be a wide variety of symptoms that show up as cognitive or behavioral difficulties. Brain Gym rewires the neural system to function in the best way possible, making these connections easier and faster.

After only a few sessions Aiden shared that he felt more relaxed, his head felt "more open,” and he "felt good." His mood significantly improved, as he was smiling more often and was more energetic. His teacher told me that he began requesting "Brain Gym breaks" to help him stay more focused and on track during the school day.

Christina’s Note

Brain Gym Breaks are a great and effective tool to use any time students are feeling restless or struggling to pay attention in class. They only take a few minutes, and the result is a kid who is ready to succeed in the classroom.
